Children & Families

Children are deeply loved but sometimes have struggles and parents are unsure how to help. I have extensive training and experience in child development, play therapy, and parenting techniques to support children as they experience big emotions. I will utilize techniques that are beneficial for children as young as 2, and do not require children to be able to verbalize their problems. Parents are a big part of therapy, and are included in treatment to create a deeper understanding between parents and children. I love seeing children develop into their best selves and embrace their strengths while working on barriers that are interfering with their success. I can see children for just a few sessions or ongoing, depending on a case by case basis and treatment goals.

In Iowa, families are vital to the fabric of the communities we live in. Whether rural or urban, families are experiencing many pressures from changing family structures, step parenting, divorce, and co-parenting. I understand how important it is for children and parents to feel connected. I will use my years of experience of families working through hard things to explore your family’s individual strengths and opportunities for growth. We can look through the lens of each person’s view point to start making sense of the mess. Each of your personalities and perspectives will be in the therapy room, ensuring you meet real goals of family unity and joy again.
