Suzanne Rozendaal, LISW
Suzanne is a LISW and worked in the field of community mental health for 20 years. She graduated from Mount Mercy College in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and then completed her Master in Social Work from the University of Iowa in 2006.
Suzanne enjoys working with adults and kids and focuses her practice on treating anxiety, grief, depression, and PTSD. She has completed a wide variety of trainings over the years, including CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness. She uses these modalities and others, but focuses on utilizing EMDR in her practice. She completed her foundation EMDR training in 2019 and then completed her EMDR certification in 2022. Suzanne finds working with the brain to create new healthy and resilient neuropathways fascinating. Suzanne believes the brain wants to heal itself from stressful and recurrent or sticky thoughts. She has seen EMDR be effective and provide healing over and over again for both large and small traumas . She loves working with clients to get to a place of healing and overall health. Suzanne also has a particular interest in the use of EMDR for medical anxiety, medical trauma, and pain. She has treated clients after years of avoidance, so they were able to do hard things, like going to the dentist, facing a difficult medical procedure, or getting blood drawn.
When not in her office, Suzanne enjoys camping and doing outdoorsy things with her husband and three kids. When given the choice she would pick dogs over cats, coffee over tea and the mountains over the beach.
